We’ve assembled answers to some of the questions we hear most frequently, and you may find what you’re looking for right on this page. If not, you can email us your question here anytime, or call us at (718) 863-3300. We’re here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even if your question is outside of the routine services Amazing provides. We’re health care professionals and chances are we can answer your question or guide you to the answers you’re looking for.
No. A prescription is not required for home care, but you must have a referral. That can be from your doctor, a hospital or clinic, even a senior center can make an initial referral for you. If you believe you need home care and don’t yet have a referral, our intake staff will take down all the necessary information and in most cases we can arrange for a referral on your behalf.
Leave that to us. Since the Amazing Home Care team includes registered nurses, home health aides, personal care aides and homemakers, you don’t need to worry about that. Our nurses will evaluate your health and your home environment and determine the level of care you need. Based on that assessment, we’ll develop a care plan that assigns the most appropriate level of care provider.
In some cases, you won’t need any special equipment at all, while others may need anything from a hospital bed to a commode. Your care plan will include any recommended special equipment, which is usually referred to as durable medical equipment. While Amazing doesn’t provide any equipment, we are part of the Centers Health Care family, the most complete post-acute health care continuum in New York. Our care coordinators can arrange a consult with Centers Medical Supply who can provide anything you may need.
Amazing staffers are not permitted to drive clients in their personal vehicles. However, an Amazing Homemaker or Personal Care Aide can escort you on your errands and shopping trips and provide assistance other than driving you.
Amazing homemakers are able to do all the things that you would do yourself – light housecleaning, dishes, shopping, preparing meals, doing laundry, etc. However, they are not intended as a substitute for regular cleaning of the sort a maid service would provide, which would also include washing floors, windows, etc.
Most of our clients’ costs are covered by Medicaid, provided there is a demonstrated medical need for the assistance we’ll be providing. The referral from your doctor will detail what help you need, and our nursing staff will visit you to confirm that. If you don’t currently receive home services that are covered by Medicaid, one of our benefits specialists can help you obtain that coverage. We also accept private paying clients and many insurances.
Your good health is our 24/7 commitment. We are here for you seven days a week, 24 hours a day. During non-regular hours, our service will direct your call to the proper person and we’ll return your call right away.
